Andrea 

Andrea qualified with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology from La Trobe University in 1995 and has lived and worked in Healesville for over 25 years with her husband and six children.

Andrea now holds a small clinical caseload and spends the majority of her time mentoring, managing and supporting the Beyond Speech team to deliver outstanding, values-driven client care. As Director and Senior Clinician, Andrea provides clinical guidance, leadership and support across the Adult and Orofacial Myology teams, ensuring high-quality care for clients across the lifespan.

Andrea has a special interest in literacy and is trained in a range of evidence-based literacy programs, including Cracking the ABC Code and Sounds-Write. She also has training in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), with a particular focus on PODD, and has completed PROMPT training to support speech production and motor planning.

​

She has extensive experience specialising in swallowing and communication management within Residential Aged Care settings and has a long history of supporting clients with complex eating, drinking and communication needs, including working with younger people with degenerative neurological conditions.

​

Andrea is Coulson Trained in Orofacial Myology and has completed specialist training in infant and childhood feeding difficulties. She is passionate about supporting clinicians to deepen their clinical reasoning and confidence in these areas.

​

Andrea enjoys providing mentoring, education and training both within Beyond Speech and the wider community. She offers consultative support and professional development for schools, Residential Aged Care facilities and other organisations, and has been engaged as a speaker and facilitator for Family Enrichment Australia and other not-for-profit organisations for over 15 years.
